About Digital Resonance

Digital Resonance exists to make the digital side of loss easier to navigate.

When someone dies, their online life doesn't pause. Emails continue. Subscriptions renew. Accounts remain active. For the people left behind, this creates a quiet but often overwhelming layer of work - managing digital accounts after death, usually at a time when capacity is already stretched thin.

This site was created to offer clarity, not urgency.

It was built with the understanding that grief affects focus, memory, and energy and that digital tasks often arrive before people feel ready to handle them.

What this site is

Digital Resonance is a collection of step-by-step guides that explain what happens to digital and online accounts after someone dies, and how those accounts are typically handled.

The guides cover areas such as:

  • Digital identity and online accounts
  • Banks, subscriptions, and paid services
  • Phones, email, cloud storage, and social media platforms

Each guide is designed to be:

  • Calm and practical
  • Easy to pause and return to
  • Clear about what matters, and what doesn't

There is no required order. You don't need to do everything at once.

What this site isn't

Digital Resonance is not:

  • Legal advice
  • Financial advice
  • A checklist you need to complete immediately

Every situation is different. Some accounts won't apply. Some steps can wait. Some may never need to be done at all.

This site exists to support decision-making, not to pressure it.

How to use the guides

Most people start with whatever feels most familiar, such as:

  • An email account
  • A phone or cloud service
  • A bank, subscription, or ongoing payment

You can stop after one guide, or move between them slowly.
If something feels like too much, it's okay to leave it for another day.

Many people come back to these guides more than once.

Progress doesn't have to be linear to still be progress.

How this information is maintained

The guides are reviewed and updated as platforms, policies, and account processes change.

Where possible, information is based on publicly available documentation and real-world experience of how digital services are handled after a death.

If something feels unclear, outdated, or missing, feedback is always welcome.

A final note

Grief doesn't move at the same pace as technology. Digital Resonance was built with that in mind.

Take what's useful. Leave the rest. Come back when you're ready.
